#1. About Ashley Madison
Ashley Madison is a Canadian dating agency with more than 75 million registered accounts. Unlike many startups targeting the USA only, they offer dating services to over 50 countries. Ashley Madison is available in the United States, Canada, Greece, Italy, Hungary, Japan, Poland, Sweden, Germany, China, and more.
#2. First Impressions
For better or worse, Ashley Madison’s slogan is “Life is short. Have an affair,” which might not please the most sensitive group of people. Thankfully, people are free to do what they want, and whatever your situation is, it’s up to you to decide whether to leave your partner or go with an affair. Also, just because Ashely Madison advertises this slogan doesn’t mean that only people who want affairs can join it.
The mysterious landing page features a well-endowed lady with visible nipples and a lush face mask. I guess it’s there to portray their slogan, which is all about mystery, secrets, and so on. Admittedly, it’s one of the coolest slogans and marketing ideas. Yes, it’s daring, but that’s the point. Also, just so you’re aware, Ashley Madison often utilizes guerilla marketing techniques that aim to shock or surprise users.
Interestingly, Ashely Madison users were recruited for a research and with the released results in 2023, people looking for affairs might be as excited as ever. The research found that many users were dissatisfied with their current (first) partners, which means a higher probability for an affair and more poon for Ashely Madison users. In other words, there’s a high probability that you’ll find something on-site, and the rest is up to you.
#3. Content & User Experience
Before we begin, I think it’s important to mention that Ashely Madison had a data breach around ten years ago. People were asked to pay money or get their data leaked, and after everything was solved, the Ashely Madison CEO stepped down. I don’t know what the current situation or approach to their situation is, but things seem to have improved. For example, even their apps mention that “No actual members of AshleyMadison” are shown in the screenshots, which means they respect user privacy.
Anyhow, so, what happens when you decide to join a dating site? You download one of their apps or register via a computer. Having apps helps a lot because dating on a desktop computer is very old-school. The apps are free, and you don’t need to pay a dime to get started. That’s one of the greatest pros of Ashely Madison because there’s little to no monetary risk to joining their platform. In fact, while dating sites have multiple ways to pay their bills, Ashley Madison takes a novel approach and doesn’t charge users a monthly fee. Instead, you use credits to (for instance) hide your data, which fits with their slogan.
After you’ve joined the Ashley Madison network, prepare to spend some credits if you want to have your data hidden. However, the credits are also used for other actions, so this is where you’ll have to do some math in your head and figure out whether it’s better to spend a monthly fee on competitors or go with the credits. As far as I can tell, it’s worth trying both.
Unless the pricing changes, it costs around 79 USD to purchase 100 tokens or $117 for 200 tokens, and only men are charged for first interactions. It sucks if you’re male, but at least there’s a chance that a female will message you first. Also, while Ashley Madison claims to have stopped all bot activity, some of the app reviews mention this problem. Are these people just bitter because they had to pay to send bots a message? Perhaps. Thankfully, it looks like if you catch a scammer, Ashley Madison will refund for the spent tokens, which is awesome. Also, assuming there are thousands of reviews, I mean, some legit people are downloading apps, so you can’t just have thousands of fake profiles, right?
Regarding dating websites, we always get asked if the profiles are real and, most importantly, if we can get laid. I think that the game is easier for women, and they will get to bang anyone. Also, the scales turn in your favor when the age reaches 40s or even 50, mostly because bots that promote OnlyFans profiles or other trash gravitate toward the audiences in their 20s. The older you are, the better the experience, that’s my take. Also, you can always use common sense and don’t spend money on suspicious profiles that send a wink or something similar. As before, I suggest using a few sites and picking your favorites as spending 50 to 100 bucks once in a lifetime to learn whether this site will lead you to dates or not is worth it.
#4. Conclusion
Despite a daring slogan, Ashely Madison continues to attract tens of thousands of new users daily, most of whom seem to be legit. Thanks to a wallet-friendly system and mobile apps, their market penetration is one of the highest in the industry, making it a must-join dating platform. However, as with all dating programs, use common sense and don’t reply to spammers.
